Kimberly Coleman
Kimberly Coleman, a Harlem wife and mom of two sons, writes and speaks about parenting in the NYC Metro area. She received a BA in History-Sociology from Columbia College in New York. After college, she worked in finance and research for eight years. Employers included Columbia University’s Development Office, Smith Barney’s Consumer Products investment banking division and Targeted Media, a division of Time Inc.
Kimberly left corporate America in March of 2004 after giving birth to her first son. Since then, she has become the New York Metro area Parenting Guide for ParentZone.com, a top parenting site on the Internet. She is also the founder and primary blogger at Mom in the City (www.mominthecity.com), a site geared towards NYC moms of preschoolers. On the print side, Kimberly has a weekly family column in Harlem News, Queens News, Brooklyn News, and Bronx News community newspapers. Lastly, Kimberly also speaks about parenting topics and marketing to moms at events including Babies R Us seminars, a BlogHer Business ’08 conference panel and various corporate conferences.
Ashley Thomas
Ashley Simone Thomas is a native of North Little Rock, Arkansas. Ashley is a graduating senior of North Little Rock High School. Ashley is an only child and is being raised by her loving mother. Ashley is a member of the Senior Dance Team, Ladies and Gentlemen Club, and Senior Cabinet. Ashley is also a member of Delta G.E.M.S, of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. At church she is a member of the youth department and junior ushers. Ashley has and is contacted to model for several local vendors.
Ashley will pursue a degree in Business Administration, this coming fall. Her college choice has not yet been made. Ashley is a member of the Dreamers Academy class of 2008, where she was blessed with guidance and support. Her life long dream of meeting Tyra Banks was granted on December 5, 2008. She was a recipient of the “Sparkle” award, presented to five dreamers, who displayed behaviors of curiosity, confidence, courage and constancy.
Since Dreamers Academy 2008, Ashley has been highlighted in two local magazines, and the local newspaper. Ashley is featured in a video that was shot in Memphis Tennessee. The Video is titled “Rubies of the Future” it is geared to motivate children to believe in their dreams because they can and will come true. She has submitted numerous letters seeking opportunities to take her dream to next level. Ashley holds on to the words given by Mr. Steve Harvey. there are two kinds of people – Ordinary and Extraordinary and the difference in the two is the word extra, to be extraordinary, one must take extra steps. Always be prepared it is better to be prepared and not get the opportunity, than to get the opportunity and not be prepared.
